Artist Spotlight: Calliope Musicals – Arlene’s Grocery – October Residency

Coming all the way from Austin, Texas, Calliope Musicals is one of the most unique up and coming bands out there currently, which is a lot to say in today’s golden age of music. Their unique style and eclectic shows have earned them a residency at a local favorite, Arlene’s Grocery. Each night is set to be a different and drastically different theme, and any band that can play the same venue and keep it fresh, night after night, is A-OK in our books.

Austin’s psychedelic art rock darlings, Calliope Musicals, are known for their off-the-charts energetic performances that borderline on surreal. In 2017, they were named Austin Chronicle’s “Band of the Year,” after taking “Best New Band” only one year prior. See the band live and you’ll know why.

Every Tuesday in October, Calliope Musicals will be found on the lower east side at Arlene’s Grocery transmitting rainbow rock to the masses. Each show will take on a different theme, from acoustic campfire nights to quarantined disco. Sharing the stage will be NYC locals like Fusilier, Mobile Steam Unit, and The Living Strange, as well as some touring acts–The Georgia Flood, Kris Lager Band, and ELM.
